A 6-Week Journey of Scripture, Music, Ministry, Family & Friendship
When God Turns the Next Mile Into a New Chapter
Scripture: Isaiah 43:19 — “Behold, I will do a new thing…”
Rest doesn't mean the journey is over. It means we're getting ready for the next mile. October will bring another major road trip—this time to Minneapolis for the Prestigious International Hope Book Awards. This journey will include several kinds of joy.
We'll celebrate books and writers. I'll have time with my daughter, Julie. We'll have opportunities to reconnect with author friends. We'll have another opportunity to remember why stories matter.
I have discovered something about writers: We may write alone. We don't journey alone. Authors need readers. Readers need stories. Writers need friends, and sometimes we need people who understand the strange combination of exhaustion, excitement, rejection, celebration, deadlines, creativity, and hope that comes with putting words on a page. Those friendships are treasures.
A new chapter doesn't erase the previous one. It builds from it. Every manuscript teaches us something. Every rejection develops something. Every award encourages something. Every reader reminds us why our work matters. And every friendship gives us someone to share the journey with.
As I look toward Minneapolis, I don't want to rush past the anticipation. Something sacred about standing on the edge of a new chapter. You don't know everything that will happen. You don't know every person you'll meet. You don't know every door that will open, but you can travel with expectation.
Isaiah reminds us that God can do a new thing. Sometimes the new thing looks completely different from what we imagined. Sometimes it grows quietly. Sometimes we recognize it only after we look back. So, what new chapter might God be opening in your life? Don't assume the next chapter has to look like the last one. Sometimes God uses the road to take us somewhere we couldn't have imagined when we first started driving.
🎶 WHAT’S ON MY FAITH PLAYLIST? Song of the Week: “I Believe It (The Life of Jesus)” — Jon Reddick
Why it matters: Because the road ahead requires more than plans. It requires faith.
Your turn: What new chapter might God be opening in your life?
Same God. New Miles. Faith • Hope • Joy.
Until the next road… keep traveling with hope.
