ROAD WARRIOR: Week One
Faith • Hope • Joy
A 6-Week Journey of Scripture, Music, Ministry, Family & Friendship
When the Road Leads to an Open Door
Scripture: Isaiah 52:7 — “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings…”
Some roads you drive because you have somewhere to go. Other roads you drive because God has opened a door on the other side. My recent journey to Ft. Wayne, Indiana, for the International Christian Book Awards was one of those roads. I climbed into the car carrying more than luggage. I carried books, stories, dreams, prayers, and the memories of every person who helped bring those stories to life.
Joy Overcame Sorrow was traveling with me. And so was a little girl named Joy who has become much bigger than the pages of a children's book. She represents something I have learned repeatedly: our stories can become bridges of hope for someone else's sorrow.
The award celebration was special, but the people I met along the way were just as important. God has a way of turning conferences into divine appointments.
Then came another unexpected blessing: being featured on Unscripted Faith on Cornerstone TV. One road. Multiple doors. Multiple opportunities to share faith. And suddenly, I understood something about the ministry road warrior: The destination may be an event, but the assignment is always people.
When we travel for ministry, it is tempting to measure the journey by stages, invitations, awards, appearances, and accomplishments. But God may be measuring it differently. Whom did you encourage? Who needed to hear your story? Who needed hope? Who needed a reminder that God was still working? Those questions change the way we travel.
The next time you find yourself headed toward an opportunity, don't just ask what you'll accomplish. Ask whom God might place in your path. Perhaps the most important person you meet won't be sitting in the audience. Perhaps they'll be sitting beside you at a table, standing in a hallway, or listening to your story from the other side of a television screen.
The road continues. And I'm learning not to rush through the miles. There may be ministry hidden in every mile.
🎶 WHAT’S ON MY FAITH PLAYLIST? Song of the Week: “Goodness of God” — CeCe Winans
Why it matters: Because sometimes the best soundtrack for the road is simply remembering what God has already done.
Your turn: Before your next trip, ask: “God, who might You want me to encourage on this journey?”
Same God. New Miles. Faith • Hope • Joy.
Until the next road… keep traveling with hope.
